Pastor William C. Jones
A true Man of God, righteous, holy and divine, gifted, powerful, determined, dynamic, amazing, faithful and proud, encouraging, energetic, phenomenal and oh so awesome. These are just a few words that describe William C. Jones.
Born to the Reverend Rena Bell Jones and the late Deacon Jasper Jones, he grew up with his 4 sisters and his late brother in Maysville, NC. His parents could only pray that their children would turn out to be well respected, God-fearing individuals, and live Christian lives. William set out to do just that.
After he graduated from Jones Senior High School in Trenton NC, and later DeVry Technology College in Decatur Georgia, where he received a degree in Electronics, he remembered what his parents taught him and stayed on a straight and narrow path to make them proud. Today he uses his degree in Electronics at Time Warner Cable of Jacksonville where he serves as a Technical Operational Supervisor; he has been there for 26 years. After college, he returned to North Carolina and on June 29, 1991 he married his high school sweetheart Sonya, this union of now 25 years has been blessed with a son Trey, who has graduated with honors from NC State University.
After William accepted Christ as his personal Savior in May of 1990, his Christian journey began. At Davis Chapel MB Church in Maysville he was the Superintendent of Sunday School and served on the Deacon board. In 1998 he accepted his calling to preach the Gospel. He will tell you that when he received his calling he was apprehensive; he was young and not ready. He understood the Lord’s voice, however he denied it. But after much, much prayer he became submissive to God’s will, and his entire life changed. In 2000, he became the Pastor of Reform Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in James City, New Bern, NC. He was Pastor there from 2000-2007.
In June of 2007 and under the guidance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Reverend William C. Jones accepted the calling to Pastor at Marshall Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville. He told the congregation from the very beginning that he had a vision for this church. His vision was and still is so big, that we sometimes have a hard time keeping up. He doesn’t hesitate to take on new projects and he encourages the members to challenge themselves, behind Pastor Jones we are a united force. Our motto, “Reaching Sinners, Teaching Saints and Making Disciples”, is his main concern.
Pastor, Leader, Shepherd, Ruler and Overseer of Marshall Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, this man of God, is very family oriented and loves “seeing God’s people live to their full potential”. He will forever be known as one of the hardest working men in the Gospel, at the most exciting Church in Onslow County.
He carries a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and he serves as the Vice President of the Church School of the Trent River Oakey Grove Baptist Association, and is also on the Executive Board of the Association.
But in his leisure, he still works on perfecting his game of golf. However, he recognizes his divine ownership, his worldwide debtorship and is conscious of his gospel trusteeship. He must be a shepherd to the sick and dying, comforter to the sorrowing, drifting and distressed. He marries, dedicates babies, encourages and guides, all the while he is still building lives. The Word of God says many come but few are called. We give thanks to God for planting Pastor William C. Jones in this part of the Vineyard.
He always said that he prays that “you will see the greatness in you”, well “we have found a great one in him”. He still prides himself on the simple philosophy of just being who you are. He is by the grace and mercy of God; Love, Peace and Joy, and our Pastor Rev. William C. Jones.
