Our Pastor

William C. Jones

“And I will give you Pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding” Jeremiah 3:15

Reverend William C. Jones is a true Man of God, who embodies righteousness, holiness, and divine purpose. He is the youngest born to the late Deacon Jasper W. Jones and the Reverend Rena Bell Jones, his four sisters and brother all grew up in Maysville, NC. His parents raised them with the hope that their children would become well-respected, God-fearing individuals. His parents’ prayers were answered through the life of Reverend William C. Jones. A graduate of Jones Senior High School in Trenton, NC, and later DeVry Technology College in Decatur, Georgia, where he earned a degree in Electronics, he then returned to North Carolina to begin his career and remained on the straight and narrow path taught by his parents. Using his degree in Electronic-Communications, he retired after 30 years as a Supervisor from Spectrum Cable of Jacksonville. He married his high school sweetheart, Sonya, they celebrate 33 years of marriage. From this God arranged union they have one son Trey, who is the AVP for University Advancement and Vice President of the WVSU Foundation at West Virginia State University, and one grandson Tatum Kyrie Jones.

After Jones accepted Christ as his personal savior in May of 1990, his Christian journey began. He served in various capacities at Davis Chapel MB Church in Maysville before accepting his calling to preach the Gospel in November 1998. Though initially apprehensive, he embraced God’s will and became the Pastor of Reform Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church from 2000 to 2007. In June 2007, he accepted the calling to lead Marshall Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, NC, under the guidance of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Jones holds a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and is a Certified Christian Leadership School Instructor from the National Baptist Convention USA, INC. He serves as the Moderator of the Trent River Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Association and serves on the Executive Board of the Association. In January 2022, he initiated the Ministerial Academy for TROGMBA and collaborates with other faith leaders in Jacksonville on the One City, Our City, My City Campaign.

Beyond his ministerial duties, Pastor Jones participates in various community boards, including Vice-Chair of The Onslow County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, First Tee Advisor Board of Crystal Coast, Unmet Needs of Onslow County Council, and Onslow Strong Disaster Recovery Alliance. Chair of NC Rural Center’s Rural Economic Development Institute (REDI), Jones County 4Life Affordable Homes Board Member and a proud member of PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY, INC. In his leisure time, he studies God’s word, spends time with his family and perfects his golf game.

Pastor Jones sees his role as a servant leader extending beyond the pulpit, actively participating in the lives of his congregation. He mentors, marries, dedicates babies, encourages, guides, and builds lives, conscious of his divine ownership and gospel trusteeship. Recognizing the greatness in others, he remains a humble and inspiring figure, embodying Love, Peace, and Joy. By the grace and mercy of God, Pastor William C. Jones is a beacon of faith and leadership at Marshall Chapel MB Church and in Onslow County.
